I installed one of these in my home, so I could get rid of the landline, which is arguably less safe (because a burglar can cut off the line before entering your home.) The other reason was that cell monitoring turned out to be cheaper than landline. Installation was a snap due to the fact that you can route the power and signal lines from your main security panel to this cell unit via a single CAT-5 (Ethernet) cable. You don't need a separate battery either because this unite draws very little power, so it can piggy-back off of your main backup battery for the security panel. Just wire it up, turn on the panel and check the signal strength via the LEDs (you need minimum of 3 LEDs lit for acceptable signal power.)
